Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 5, 2026

Youxu (有序相册) does not collect any of your personal information. It has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting tools. Organizing, sorting and recognition happen entirely on your iPhone, and the only network connections are to Apple’s services (see below).

Information stored on your device

The following stays on your iPhone. We cannot see it and it is never sent to us. Deleting Youxu deletes it; the photos in your photo library are not affected:

• Organizing results: groups of similar photos, the text read from screenshots, and photo themes (portraits, food, scenery and the like). The screenshot text is stored with iOS file protection.
• ID Vault: only which photos are ID documents and what kind (ID card, bank card and the like). Document numbers and text are not stored, and the photos themselves stay in your photo library. This record is stored with iOS file protection.
• Private Space: photos and videos you move in are stored inside Youxu with iOS data protection, unreadable while the phone is locked, and they don’t sync with iCloud Photos. Before uninstalling, tap “Restore all to Photos” in Private Space.
• Memory movie music: music you pick from Files is copied into the app; for a song from your music library, only which song it is is remembered.
• Home Screen widgets: small copies of the photos to be shown are saved in storage shared by Youxu and its widgets, together with the photos you picked for Featured Photos and the names and birthdays you entered for Growing Up. The widgets only read these and never go online.
• Photo Dates and Date & Age Stamp: the original capture dates are kept so a fix can be undone; a birthday you enter for stamping, and which stamped photos were made (so they can be deleted together after printing), are stored on the device too.
• Settings and choices: which photos you marked to keep, how many photos per row, your own screenshot categories, photos you swapped in a Year in Review grid, and which folder Full Backup uses are all stored on the device.

Recognizing people and pets

Growing Up needs to know which photos show the child or pet you chose. Recognition starts only after you open “Choose Who”, and it happens entirely on your iPhone:

• What is processed: iOS image recognition finds the faces in your photos, and a face model built into the app turns each face into a set of 128 numbers so that photos of the same person can be grouped. Cats and dogs are recognized with iOS image recognition.
• What it is used for: only to list the people and pets who appear most often so you can choose one, and to pick that child’s or pet’s photos for the Growing Up widget. It is not used to establish anyone’s identity, for advertising or tracking, or for anything else.
• Where it is stored, and for how long: these numbers, and which photos show whom, are stored only inside Youxu on your iPhone, with iOS file protection. Deleting a child or pet in the app deletes their record; Settings › Home Screen Widgets › Stop Recognizing and Delete Data deletes everything it recognized and stops recognizing until you choose again; deleting Youxu deletes everything too.
• Who it is shared with: no one. We don’t have servers, and this data stays on your iPhone.

Full Backup

Full Backup copies photos only to a folder you choose (a USB drive, an external disk, a shared folder on your computer), and its backup record is written into that same folder. Where the backup lives and who can see it depends on the location you pick; we never receive a copy. Restore from Backup reads only the folder you choose and saves the photos into your photo library.

Who Youxu communicates with

• Apple’s App Store: only when you tap “Connect to the App Store” to buy or restore a purchase. Transactions are handled by Apple; we never receive your payment information.
• Apple Maps: when you look at a map (the map in Memories, the small map in a photo’s info), map tiles load from Apple Maps; in mainland China the map data is provided by AutoNavi (Amap). Apple can know which area of the map you are viewing, but your photos and the locations recorded in them are never sent to anyone.
• iCloud Photos: when your photos are stored in iCloud Photos and only thumbnails are on your iPhone (with “Optimize iPhone Storage” on), viewing photos and originals, exporting videos, masking before sharing, date and age stamps, video frames, cutting videos, Full Backup, moving photos into Private Space and preparing photos for Home Screen widgets make iOS download them from your own iCloud. This is Apple’s service; Youxu only asks iOS for your own photos. We don’t have servers: your photos only move between your iPhone and your own iCloud.
• Apple Music: if a song you picked for a memory movie has not been downloaded to your music library, the system music player streams it.

Apart from this, Youxu does not go online. Where a photo was taken (“Xihu District, Hangzhou”), the provinces lit up in Footprints, trips and memories are all worked out on the device from a place-name table built into the app. The “Terms of Use” link on the purchase page opens Apple’s standard license agreement in Safari.

Images you share

Check Before Sharing can mask phone numbers, addresses, order numbers and QR codes, and removes the location and device model recorded in the photo. Masking uses mosaic or blur, so the saved image no longer contains the original content and cannot be restored.

Permissions

• Photos: organizing, sorting, finding similar photos, memories and backup all read your photo library, and everything is processed on the device; you can also allow access to selected photos only. Every deletion asks for your confirmation in a system dialog, and deleted photos stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days.
• Photos (add only): to save masked or watermarked images, the posters you make, and photos restored from Private Space into your library.
• Face ID: only to open ID Vault and Private Space. iOS does the check; we never receive your face data.
• Media & Apple Music: asked only when you pick a song from your library for a memory movie; the song is played by the system music player, and songs not yet downloaded are streamed.
• Wireless Data (iPhones sold in mainland China): for purchases, restoring purchases and loading map tiles.

Youxu does not ask for location, camera, microphone, contacts or notification permissions. You can decline any permission; apart from Photos, declining any of them does not affect organizing and cleaning up.

Children

We do not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. If a future version needs to go online for anything else, it will be written here and in the release notes first.
